Online MPH Worcester Program

Build a greater understanding of the interaction between medicine and public health.

The fully online Master of Public Health degree is managed in collaboration with the UMass Chan Medical School. 

The program includes the following requirements: 

  • Six public health core courses (18 credits)
  • Three research-based courses, including research methods, a practicum, and a final capstone project (9 credits)
  • Five electives from your choice of concentration: biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health sciences or nutrition courses (15 credits)  

The 3-credit practicum and capstone experiences are developed in consultation with the Director of the Worcester Campus MPH Program. The Director is also the program's faculty advisor who is available to provide assistance with all elements of curricular planning and completion.  Independent Study is also an option.  

Worcester Campus MPH students are eligible to complete a certificate in Global Health in conjunction with the UMass Amherst Public Health Practice online program.   

As of the fall 2026 term all students must prove competency in the core and required courses by passing each class with a B- or better.

Want a head start? Not interested in a full degree? Not sure if online learning is right for you? Try before you apply. You can take up to four courses as a non-degree student, and as long as you earn a B or better, we’ll transfer all course credits into the program once you’re admitted.

The Worcester MPH program gives you the opportunity to study a practical and current public health problem of your choice. You’ll apply critical thinking, analytical abilities, and communication skills that will integrate the core academic areas of public health.

Application information & deadlines

The program accepts applications twice a year. All students apply through the UMass Amherst Graduate School.  

Fall Admissions Deadline

The fall application deadline is June 15.

Spring Admissions Deadline

The spring application deadline is Oct. 1.
