Wier Competing in War of the Words Benefit in West Hartford

English professor Dara Wier will be competing April 14 in Webster’s War of the Words, a word-based game show to benefit the Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society.

Wier and teammates Rob Kyff of the Hartford Courant and Kristina Newman-Scott, director of culture for the state of Connecticut, will face Rob King of ESPN, Kerry Driscoll of the University of St. Joseph and Ben Zimmer of the Wall Street Journal in the competition at Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford. Peter Sokolowski of Merriam-Webster will officiate.

April 14 is the 190th anniversary of the publication of Noah Webster’s work, An American Dictionary of the English Language.
