Volunteers Needed for Research Study on Shoe Design
Researchers at the UMass Amherst Boyer Biomechanics Lab are seeking volunteers for a study on how different shoes change how you move.
Prospective participants must meet the following requirements:
- Age 22-35 years
- Be in good general health with a BMI less than 30 kg/m2
- Have no history of major lower extremity surgery, injury or current joint pain
- Size 8 women’s shoe or size 10 men’s shoe
Participants will be asked to complete one visit to the lab, where they will be asked to walk and stand in several different shoes while the researchers measure how they walk, the activity of their muscles and the pressure pattern under their feet. Participants will also be asked to complete questionnaires about their general health. The study will take approximately three hours to complete, and participants will receive a $20 gift card for their time.
