Commencement

May 11 marks the 148th Undergraduate Commencement at UMass Amherst. Come and share the joy of the 6,000 graduates and their families. The university invites employees to join in the celebration by volunteering as Commencement Ambassadors.

Commencement Ambassadors are an essential part of the day. Volunteers help guests to their seats, answer questions, entertain and inform, guide graduates into the stadium, and maintain an enjoyable atmosphere for the families and friends of the graduates.

In appreciation, volunteers will receive a commemorative mug, water bottle, a Commencement Ambassador polo shirt, lunch at Berkshire Dining Commons, food vouchers, and an opportunity to enter a drawing for thank-you gifts.

Opportunities include:

  • Guest Services and Roaming Ambassadors – Welcome guests, distribute programs, answer questions, direct guests to their seats, and guide them out of the stadium after the ceremony.
  • Graduate Marshals and Seating Assistants – Greet graduates in Lot 11, escort them into the stadium and onto the field, and enjoy their energy and exuberance.
  • Golf Cart Drivers – Transport guests with limited mobility from accessible parking areas to the stadium in a golf cart. Limited positions available.

Visit the Commencement website volunteer page for more information and to register.
