Virtual Keynote Address and Workshops on ‘Making Your Courses Inclusive’ Announced

A virtual keynote address and workshops around creating inclusive classrooms, research labs and working spaces for students and faculty will be held on Oct. 6 and 9 by the department of microbiology.

Facilitated by Bryan Dewsbury, University of Rhode Island,  a nationally known scholar on inclusivity in academics, this dynamic and high impact program will provide you with the skills and strategies for inclusive course design and improving the sense of belonging of our UMass community.

Dates:

Tuesday, Oct. 6, noon
Keynote address: “The revolution will be backward designed - inclusive practices in the higher education classroom”

Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Workshop 1: “A Chance at birth - power, privilege and their impacts on the higher ed classroom”

Friday, Oct. 9, 10:30 a.m. to noon
Workshop 2: “We are talking about practice! - Considering specific strategies for your classroom”

Registration is required for both the keynote and the workshops.
