Virtual Events Emerging as Community Sustains Connections
As UMass Amherst responds to the outbreak of COVID-19, all in-person campus events have been canceled or postponed. However, the campus community, in addition to transitioning to remote learning, has creatively embarked on developing a variety of virtual events. Even an Edible Book Festival has moved online.
Here’s a sampling of virtual gatherings that have emerged.

Tasso and Music Symposium
Friday, April 17-Sunday April 19, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
Over a dozen music historians and scholars will present papers at this video conference to mark the conclusion of the NEH-funded Tasso in Music Project, directed by UMass professor Emiliano Ricciardi. The three-year effort has established a complete critical edition of the musical settings of the great 16th century Italian poet Torquato Tasso.
