U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern to Speak at School of Public Policy's Fall Kick Off

The School of Public Policy (SPP) will kick off the 2021-22 academic year with a conversation with U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts's 2nd Congressional District. The talk will take place on Tuesday, August 31, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Old Chapel and will be open to the public.

McGovern was first elected to Congress in 1996. The chair of the House Rules Committee, he is also a senior member of the House Committee on Agriculture’s Subcommittee on Nutrition and Oversight, chair of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China and the Democratic co-chair of the bipartisan Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission.

“We're honored that Congressman McGovern is joining us to celebrate the start of a new academic year,” said Alasdair Roberts, SPP director. “The School of Public Policy is at an exciting point in its growth plan. And this year we're marking the fiftieth anniversary of graduate public policy education at UMass Amherst.”
