University Relations Hosting Feedback Sessions for New Seal and Brand Mark
University Relations (UR) is exploring ideas for a university seal and a brand mark to complete the UMass visual identity and is seeking feedback from students, faculty, staff and alumni. Feedback sessions will be held on Tuesday, Nov.1, from 10 a.m. to noon, and Thursday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the Old Chapel multipurpose room.
With the state of Massachusetts revisiting the design of the state seal itself, there is an opportunity to create a seal for UMass Amherst that represents our unique institution. In addition to exploring ideas for a university seal, UR is also looking at options for a brand mark to complete the UMass Visual Identity system. The brand mark would be used to creatively express the UMass brand in instances like social icons, merchandise, etc. This is meant to be an addition to the already established athletic mark (i.e., Power U) and provide additional flexibility in addressing problems where the current visual identity does not work.
Input from the campus community is an important part of the process of choosing which design direction to move forward with and members of the campus community are welcome and encouraged to attend the feedback session.
