The Daniel R. Anderson and Jerome L. Myers Colloquium Series will welcome Ioulia Kovelman, professor of psychology at the University of Michigan, for a talk titled “The Bilingual Reading Brain: Cross-Linguistic Perspectives on Child Literacy,” on Wednesday, May 8, from noon-1:30 p.m. in the west side of the Commonwealth Honors College Events Hall.

Kovelman is a developmental cognitive neuroscientist whose research explores how language and literacy shape brain development in bilingual children. The event is hosted by the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences and is part of the Anderson-Myers Colloquium Series, established through a donation by Robert and Elizabeth Lorch in honor of professors Emeriti Daniel R. Anderson and Jerome L. Myers. The series brings leading scholars to UMass Amherst whose work has transformed the fields of cognitive and developmental psychology.

All are welcome to attend the presentation and light refreshments will be provided.
