University Kicks Off Annual Faculty and Staff Campaign
The 2019-20 Faculty and Staff Campaign at UMass Amherst has been launched with a goal of topping the more than $1 million raised during last year’s campaign.
In the 2018-19 campaign, nearly 1,800 staff, faculty, retirees and their spouses and partners made gifts that benefited students, research and many other areas of campus. This year’s campaign will conclude June 20, 2020.
“The generosity of faculty and staff in supporting the continued growth and success of the university is a point of pride,” said Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy. “These resources make a vital difference in our ability to flourish as a top-ranked, national public research university.”

Last year, current and retired faculty and staff provided resources for more than 60 scholarship funds and 75 academic departments, programs and centers across campus. The top allocations supported by donors included the Student Care and Emergency Response Fund, the College of Education Student Emergency Fund, the College of Nursing and the Chancellor’s Strategic Initiatives Fund. The success of the campaign also has a broad impact by encouraging alumni, parents and friends to support the university’s students and programs.
A matching-gift program by the university has encouraged both participation and the gifts from faculty and staff members. UMass Amherst has offered $500,000 in matching funds again for the 2019-2020 academic year. Qualifying gifts up to $10,000 from current or retired faculty and staff will be matched $1 for $1 until the matching funds are exhausted.
