University Announces $20,000 for Campus Climate Improvement Grants

The Office of Equity and Inclusion has announced it will provide $20,000 in Campus Climate Improvement Grants, offering support to projects that help create a more inclusive campus.

Grant proposals for the spring semester can be submitted by students, faculty and staff for projects and activities that foster engagement, build community and enhance understanding. The deadline is Feb. 6.

“When we released the initial campus climate results in May 2017, we made a commitment to fund grants that would encourage our community to pursue projects that help make the campus more inclusive. We’re ready to move on to this crucial next step,” says Enobong (Anna) Branch, associate chancellor for equity and inclusion and chief diversity officer. “This is an opportunity for community members, regardless of their title or rank, to get creative and develop initiatives that meaningfully contribute to a more inclusive campus.”

The university especially encourages community members to submit proposals for projects that aim to enrich to the development of knowledge or skills through a reading group, workshop or training; provide resources to fulfill a campus need; foster innovation in teaching and performance; promote community-building; or improve communication across difference.

Grants will range from $250 to $2,500 and are considered one-time seed funds for projects. Projects that exceed this budget will require matching funds. Additional Campus Climate Improvement Grants will also be available in the fall.
