UMass Transit and PVTA Food Drive Underway
The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) and UMass Transit are sponsoring their annual food drive now through Thursday, Nov. 18.
Donations will benefit the Amherst Survival Center, a local group that offers supports to those facing food insecurity.
Where to donate:
- All PVTA buses are collecting non-perishable food donations
- Donations may also be dropped off at the UMass Transit office or in the lobby at Facilities and Campus Services at 360 Campus Center Way
Requested Items:
Thanksgiving-specific:
- Stuffing
- Cranberry sauce
- Canned pumpkin
- Canned yams
- Boxed mashed potatoes
- Gravy
- Green Beans
- Cream of Mushroom soup
- Gluten-free items
General needs:
- Brown rice
- Dried beans (black beans, red beans, all Goya varieties, etc.)
- Kids snacks (granola bars, dried fruits, snack mixes, small applesauce, Pop-Tarts, etc.)
- Meat and chicken soups (canned and boxed)
- Pasta, oats, quinoa, cereal
- Canned vegetables (all kinds)
- Canned fruits (all kinds, low sugar please)
- Gluten-free, Vegan, Low Sodium, Low Sugar foods of all kinds
- Coffee, tea, honey
- Shelf-stable single serving drinks (Capri Sun, Gatorade, Apple Juice, etc.)
