UMass Amherst University Without Walls Launches Scholarship in Honor of Ruth B. Loving of Springfield

WHERE:  UMass Center at Tower Square, 1500 Main St., Springfield

The University Without Walls program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will host a reception on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the UMass Center in Downtown Springfield to announce the establishment of a scholarship in honor of Ruth B. Loving, a UWW alumna and leader of the civil rights movement in Springfield.

When fully endowed, the Ruth B. Loving Springfield Area Scholarship will provide a source of financial aid to UWW students living in Hampden County who are experiencing significant financial need.   

Speakers and attendees will include UMass Amherst officials, members of the Loving Family, former State Rep. and UWW alumnus Raymond Jordan, State Rep. Angelo Puppolo and Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. The evening will also include hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
