UMass Amherst Team Forming for Public Health Step Challenge
The School of Public Health and Health Sciences invites members of the campus community to join the “UMass Amherst” team as part of the American Public Health Association's Billion Steps Challenge. Join colleagues, friends and the community to collectively try to take more than 1 billion steps between now and April 12, the end of National Public Health Week.
Regular physical activity like walking can greatly reduce the risk of conditions such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease and cancer. Walking can be relaxing, spiritual or when done together, it can be just plain fun.
Sign up now online or in the Walker Tracker app. Walking, running, and other activities contribute to the step count, because the app converts ADA-recommended activities into step counts, so we can all be part of the challenge.
Contact team leader Calla Harrington at callaharring@umass.edu with any questions.
