UMass Amherst Presents Journalist Jodi Kantor at Springfield Public Forum

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –  UMass Amherst is sponsoring the appearance of Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Jodi Kantor at the Springfield Public Forum on Monday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. in Symphony Hall. Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy will introduce Kantor, and Kathy Roberts Forde, a UMass journalism professor, will serve as moderator for the evening. The event is free and open to the public.

A New York Times reporter who was one of a team that broke news of sexual harassment and assault allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, Kantor will talk about the investigative work and its consequences for the #MeToo movement, revealing what it took to get the story. Kantor and colleague Megan Twohey wrote the book, “She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement,” published earlier this year to wide acclaim.

Forde’s research includes work regarding the First Amendment, democracy and public sphere, the African American freedom struggle, literary journalism, and the history of the book and print culture.

The Springfield Public Forum is one of the nation’s oldest free public speaker series. Established in 1935, the Forum is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit entity.
