UMass Amherst Hosts Regional Hazmat Response Exercise

TIME:            11 a.m. to noon

WHERE:       Lederle Graduate Research Center, UMass Amherst

UMass Amherst is partnering with the Massachusetts District 4 Hazardous Materials Response Team to conduct a training exercise in laboratory space. The District 4 team and the Amherst Fire Department will participate in the exercise along with UMass research personnel and staff from campus departments including Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Management, UMass Police and Physical Plant.

A press availability is planned for 11 a.m. to noon. Media representatives should meet in the lobby of the Lederle Graduate Research Tower at 11 a.m. to be escorted to the exercise site.

Jon Davine, assistant chief of the Northampton Fire Department and training coordinator for District 4, and a representative of UMass Amherst’s Office of Emergency Management will be on hand to explain the drill and answer questions.
