UMass Amherst to Host National Law and Society Conference Oct. 7 and 8

With generous support from the National Science Foundation, the Center for Justice, Law, and Societies is hosting a research conference on “New Directions in Law and Society,” taking place on Oct. 7 and 8 at the UMass Amherst Campus Center.

The 2-day conference will feature an array of panels and networking opportunities that aim to encourage interdisciplinary and enriching discussion and networking and professionalization opportunities for scholars of law and society.

The plenary, critical intervention, and professionalization panels will address topics including law and social exclusion; law, democracy, and authoritarianism; publishing in interdisciplinary journals; and grant opportunities with the National Science Foundation.

The conference is free and those interested in attending are asked to fill out a form on the conference website, where there is a schedule and list of speakers.
