UMass Amherst to Host a Conversation with Newly Elected Legislators Comerford, Blais, Sabadosa and Domb

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Public Policy and the UMass Women into Leadership program will present “Women Leading Western Mass.: Campaigns, Policy & Public Service,” a conversation with newly elected state legislators Sen. Jo Comerford and Reps. Natalie Blais, Lindsay Sabadosa and Mindy Domb, Monday, Jan. 28, at 4 p.m. in Old Chapel.

The legislators will discuss gender representation in government and public service, as well as their priorities in the Massachusetts Legislature. They will also offer advice to future leaders at the event, which is free and open to the public, although reservations are required. Light refreshments will be served.

In 2018, Comerford was elected to represent the Hampshire-Franklin-Worcester senate district, while Blais, Sabadosa and Domb were elected to represent the 1^st Franklin, 1^st Hampshire and 3^rd Hampshire Districts, respectively, in the commonwealth’s House of Representatives. All four women are holding their first elected offices.

Established in 2016, the UMass Amherst School of Public Policy is a hub for research and teaching, preparing students for leadership in public service. The program focuses on social change and public policy related to science and technology.

UMass Women into Leadership (UWiL) is a competitive leadership training and professional development program that seeks to prepare more students from the state’s flagship public university for public leadership after graduation.
