UMass Amherst Graduate Programs Receive National Recognition in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

AMHERST, Mass. – Graduate programs in several science and social science disciplines at the University of Massachusetts Amherst received updated rankings in the 2019 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools, which was released March 20. The programs rankings are updated periodically by the publication and were last reviewed in 2014.

Computer science performed strongly, coming in ranked 20^th and the artificial intelligence specialty in the College of Information and Computer Sciences was ranked 11^th, according to the updated rankings of programs in the sciences.

According to the updated rankings, several other UMass Amherst programs are listed as follows: earth sciences (46), chemistry (52), biology (54), mathematics (55), physics (56), statistics in the College of Natural Sciences (74) and statistics in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences (79).

Rankings of graduate programs in the sciences, master’s programs for fine arts, and graduate programs in health-related fields were not updated this year but are republished in the new guide.

The School of Public Health and Health Sciences is ranked 25th.

UMass Amherst is at No. 64 for graduate studies in public affairs.

The School of Public Health and Health Sciences’ audiology program is 30th and speech-language pathology is 39th. The clinical psychology program in the College of Natural Sciences is 50th.

UMass Amherst is ranked 82nd for fine arts.
