The UMass ADVANCE Program has announced the second round of seed grant funding to foster the development of innovative and equitable collaborative research projects among UMass Amherst faculty. Funded seed grant projects will contribute to the mission of the National Science Foundation ADVANCE program, which is advancing women faculty, including women faculty of color, in science and engineering. Collaborative teams will receive a one-year grant of up to $15,000 and logistics support from the ADVANCE team to apply for external funding opportunities based on the seed funded project.

“We look forward to supporting the next round of grantees in carrying out equitable, inclusive and sustainable research collaborations,” said Jennifer Normaly, director of ADVANCE Research Collaboration and co-principal investigator on the ADVANCE team.

A letter of intent is due on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and the full proposal is due on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Announcement of awards will be made on Sunday, Nov. 1 and funding will be available in spring of 2021. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the Collaborative Research Seed Grant Information Workshop. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 15 from 1 to 2 p.m. via Zoom.
