Twelve Faculty Selected as 2020-21 Teaching for Inclusiveness, Diversity and Equity Ambassadors

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020-2021 TIDE Ambassadors (Teaching for Inclusiveness, Diversity and Equity) faculty fellowship award. 

Throughout the program year, participants will explore how they can enhance students’ learning and academic success across cultural, social, and learning differences by adopting a strength-based, inclusive and equitable approach to teaching and learning grounded in the value of diversity with the goal of sharing their experiences and knowledge with colleagues in their departments, colleges and across the university. 

The twelve 2020-2021 faculty fellows represent a wide range of disciplines and teaching interests:

  • Maria José Botelho, associate professor, teacher education and curriculum studies, College of Education 
  • Gloria DiFulvio, senior lecturer, health promotion and policy, School of Public Health and Health Sciences 
  • Deborah Keisch, lecturer, civic engagement and service learning 
  • Ho-Sung Kim, lecturer, environmental conservation, College of Natural Sciences 
  • Lisa Lehmberg, associate professor, music and dance, College of Humanities and Fine Arts 
  • Cristiano Mazzei, senior lecturer II, languages, literatures and cultures, College of Humanities and Fine Arts 
  • Sancha Medwinter, assistant professor, sociology, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences 
  • Lisa Modenos, senior lecturer, University Without Walls  
  • Sheila Pennell, clinical assistant professor, College of Nursing 
  • Annie Raymond, assistant professor, mathematics and statistics, College of Natural Sciences 
  • Nathaniel Whitmal, associate professor, communication disorders, School of Public Health and Health Sciences
