Tedisky Named Assistant Provost for Academic Labor Relations and Personnel Administration
Michael Eagen, associate provost for academic personnel and William Brady, associate vice chancellor for human resources, have announced that Jocelyn Tedisky has been appointed to the newly created position of assistant provost for academic labor relations and personnel administration.
The position, created in a strategic alliance between the two offices to unify academic labor relations functions, will assume responsibility for contract bargaining and administration with the campus unions representing graduate assistants and postdoctoral researchers, the Graduate Employee Organization (GEO-UAW) and Postdoctoral Researchers Organizing (PRO-UAW). Tedisky was formerly director of academic personnel systems and administration.
“The creation of this position underscores the successful relationship between human resources and the Office of Academic Personnel,” stated Brady. “As we continue to improve both academic and administrative personnel functions, there is a critical need for strong, collaborative partnerships which further dismantle administrative silos.”
Tedisky earned a B.S. in finance and master's in public administration from the University of Connecticut and a graduate certificate in contract administration studies from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
“Jocelyn is uniquely positioned to serve as the administration’s primary resource for these critical relationships,” says Eagen. “At UConn she was deeply involved in the negotiations that led to the first ever labor agreement with a graduate employee union at any institution in the state of Connecticut, public or private.”
As responsibilities are shifted to Tedisky in the coming weeks, campus stakeholders will be notified. She will continue her current duties supporting academic personnel systems and leading process improvement initiatives.
