The impact of artificial intelligence on how to teach writing and how students produce writing is uncertain. Join Anne Bello, interim director of the Writing Program, Luke Bloomfield, senior lecturer, Department of Resource Economics, Rebecca Dingo, professor of English, and Tara Pauliny, associate director of the Writing Program, to discuss how Writing Studies’ best practices can help navigate this new challenge. This session will offer a brief overview of how technological interventions have always shaped the approach to writing instruction and will then provide guidance for dealing with the specific perils and promises raised by ChatGPT. This session is co-sponsored by CTL, the Writing Program, the Junior Year Writing Program and the University Writing Committee.
