Students and faculty in the Early Childhood and Elementary Education program in the College of Education are engaging in writing activities through Oct. 27 as part of the National Writing Project’s “Write Out: Poetry for the Planet” project, a collaboration with the National Park Services.

As part of the project, a “Choice Board” with pieces from nature and various materials to make art and poetry can currently be found outside of the Hub in Furcolo Hall. All UMass Amherst students and faculty members are invited to participate and interact with the board by writing, painting and adding found materials inspired by the outdoors.

The goal of the project and board is to create inspiration from the world around us and to connect and learn through place-based writing and sharing, by exploring neighborhoods, parks and other public spaces.

More information about Write-Out can be found at writeout.nwp.org and you can share your poetry and art on social media using the hashtag #writeout.
