Daniella Iannuzzi of Wakefield, Mass, a finance major and education minor, will be this year’s Student Speaker at Undergraduate Commencement on Friday, May 10. Iannuzzi is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Drawn to UMass Amherst because, in her words, “the opportunities were endless,” Iannuzzi thoroughly took advantage of the campus’s offerings. As a first-year student, Iannuzzi won an award for her writing, which was published in the Student Writing Anthology. She became a member of Isenberg’s Citizens First, a program encouraging business students to volunteer in the community, and served as a tutor at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield. She also developed experience in college teaching, working as a teaching assistant for two Isenberg courses.

An avid dancer, Iannuzzi was captain, co-president, and choreographer of the UMass Pulse Dance Company and helped organize the team’s first-ever showcase. During her junior year, she spent a semester studying in Florence, Italy, and made the most of the opportunity, traveling to 10 European countries and 10 Italian cities, while making lifelong friends throughout the journey.

Iannuzzi honed her professional skills as an intern at Forester’s Financial and at Fidelity Investments and after graduation will work at Fidelity Investments in Burlington as a customer experience associate. Although currently focused on a career in finance, Iannuzzi hopes to return to education in the future, to teach at the secondary or university level.
