Student Advisory Group Created for Commencement 2021
University Relations and the Student Government Association have established a Student Advisory Group to envision ways that seniors and the entire UMass community can celebrate the upcoming graduation of the Class of 2021.
Five UMass seniors have been working with the university’s External Relations and University Events team as UMass considers what Commencement will look like this year amid the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. Student members of the advisory group include:
- Brandon Barker, finance and dance
- Kyle Kendall, nursing
- Sara McKenna, legal studies and Spanish
- Ivory Moulton, English and education
- Michael Suchecki, political science and marketing
SGA Senator Moulton and Nancy Buffone, associate vice chancellor for University Relations, shared the news in a message this week to eligible prospective graduates this week, noting that “Having these thoughtful and creative student voices participate in commencement planning will be invaluable as we seek to honor the accomplishments of our seniors while adhering to state public health guidelines.”
