Stockbridge School's Bhowmik Organized Symposium at Weed Science Society of America's Annual Meeting
Prasanta C. Bhowmik, Stockbridge School of Agriculture, organized a symposium on “Herbicide resistant weeds in turf, ornamental and nursery crops” at the 59th Annual Meeting of the Weed Science Society of America in New Orleans on February 13. Bhowmik, who chaired and moderated the session that featured nine speakers representing academia, manufacturers and government agencies, provided the introduction.
The session examined the current status of herbicide-resistant weeds and identified potential management programs, and shed light on the role weed scientists should play in using a holistic approach in developing long-term weed management alternatives. The speakers presented their research findings, vision and recommendations in combating resistant weeds.
Bhowmik also chaired the session “Turf and Ornamental,” on February 12, which featured eight presentations – six from academic institutions, one from a government agency and one from industry.
