State Treasurer Goldberg to Speak to UMass Community
Massachusetts Treasurer Deb Goldberg will join the School of Public Policy for a conversation about the state's fiscal priorities and the challenges of budgeting during a pandemic on Monday, May 24, at 3:30 p.m.
The event, which marks the kick-off of the summer session, is open to the UMass Amherst community. Registration is required.
As the Massachusetts state treasurer and receiver general, Goldberg oversees the state’s cash and debt management and unclaimed property and chairs state boards and commissions, including the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the Pension Reserves Investment Management Board, the State Board of Retirement, Massachusetts State Lottery Commission and the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust.
In 2015, Goldberg established the new Office of Economic Empowerment to support, advocate for, and facilitate policies that empower all Massachusetts residents, including financial-success programs for women and the BabySteps Savings Plan, which offers families a seed deposit in a college savings plan. Goldberg chairs the office’s Economic Empowerment Trust Fund and has served as president of the National Association of State Treasurers.
