SomneuroLab Conducting Study on Physical Activity in Preschool Children; Volunteers Needed

The UMass SomneuroLab wants to learn if physical activity benefits learning and napping in preschool children. Preschool children (33 to 71 months) that frequently nap, along with their adult caregiver, are being recruited for one of two in-home studies. No campus visits are involved.Potential participants should have access to a computer or tablet with internet at home.

Over a 16-day period, each study will include:

1) An initial online assessment session (adult caregiver questionnaire, child cognitive assessment and a fitness assessment)

2) Two 'testing' days, each with a morning activity or quiet play session, two memory assessments (brief online meetings) and sleep measures during the child's afternoon nap (for Study 1 only)

3) Movement and sleep tracking of the child via a watch monitor

4) Completion of a study diary by the adult caregiver.

Participating families will be compensated. To learn more about the study or to complete our online screening form, please visit https://blogs.umass.edu/cstlaurent/current-study/ or email Christine St. Laurent at cstlaurent@umass.edu.
