Siega-Riz Chairing National Academies Committee on Dietary Reference Intakes for Energy
Anna Maria Siega-Riz, dean of the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at UMass Amherst, is serving as chair of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Committee on Dietary Reference Intakes for Energy.
The committee will assess the human requirements for energy intake and expenditure. The review will consider age, sex, body size, body composition, level of physical activity and race/ethnicity, along with other factors that may be warranted, based on available data. Special considerations will be given to each age-sex group across the life span. The committee will be tasked with producing a report sharing their findings. The most recent update to the dietary reference intakes for energy was made in 2005.
