Search Advisory Committee Named for the Dean of the Libraries
John McCarthy, provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, has appointed a search advisory committee to aid in the selection of the next dean of the Libraries.
After five years of distinguished leadership and service, Dean Simon Neame stepped down as dean of the Libraries at the end of August. Sarah Hutton, head of student success and engagement, is currently serving as interim dean.
McCarthy has appointed Mari Castañeda, dean of Commonwealth Honors College, and Tilman Wolf, senior vice provost for academic affairs, as co-chairs of the committee.
Members of the search advisory committee include:
- Whitney Battle-Baptiste, professor, department of anthropology
- Marilyn Billings, head of scholarly communication
- Jennifer Friedman, associate dean of research & learning
- Michael Mercurio, executive assistant to the dean
- Brian Ogilvie, professor and department chair of history
- Krista Harper, professor of anthropology
Isaacson Miller has been retained as search consultants. The search will launch this month, with finalist interviews and forums taking place during the spring semester.
