Rising Senior Molly Solano to Compete in 2022 Miss Massachusetts

Rising senior and architecture major Molly Solano is one of 20 candidates who will participate in the 2022 Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Competition at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester, Massachusetts, July 1-2.

The winner of the competition will earn a $14,000 scholarship and compete at the 101st Anniversary Miss America competition at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.   

For the talent portion of the competition, Solano will perform tap dance to Aretha Franklin’s "Respect." She will speak on "A Dose of Change: Normalizing the Conversation Around Substance Use Disorder" as part of the competition’s Social Impact Initiative category. This is Solano’s first time at the state competition. 

Solano, a 21-year-old graduate of Everett High School, currently holds the title of Miss Middlesex County, which she earned earlier this year. At UMass, Solano has been named to the Dean's List since fall 2019. She is also a member of Phi Sigma Pi, Western Massachusetts American Institute of Architects (WMAIA), the UMass Tap Team and the Stage Crew Dance Team.
