The meeting will feature a presentation by Susan Whitbourne, professor emerita of psychology and brain sciences at UMass Amherst and faculty fellow of the Institute of Gerontology at UMass Boston. Whitbourne’s talk, “Taking the Pulse of Age-Friendliness in Higher Education in the US Today,” will summarize efforts so far as well as preliminary data from the UMass campuses to become Age-Friendly Universities.
Before Whitbourne’s talk, Alasdair Roberts, professor and director of the School of Public Policy, will talk about the mission of the school, recent developments and plans for future growth. Professor Roberts will also discuss his own research, which has focused recently on the challenges of governmental adaptation in a period of unusual turbulence.
