Researcher to Speak on Using Technology to Assist the Aging
Portia Singh, senior research scientist at Philips Research North America, will deliver the lecture “From Academia, to Government, to Industry: Aging Research across Sectors” on Tuesday, March 27 from noon to 1 p.m.
The talk will be presented via Zoom. It will also be shown in S330 Life Science Laboratories.
Singh will share her experiences using technology in the three sectors and will focus on industry research and the work being done by her team to understand the technology needs of informal caregivers assisting the chronically ill or frail elderly.
Singh holds a doctorate in biomedical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. She served as a Hardy-Apfel IT Fellow with the Social Security Administration in the Obama administration.
The talk is presented by the UManage Center for the Science of Symptom Self-Management.
