“Avenues of Translation: The City in Iberian and Latin American Writing”, co-edited by Regina Galasso, associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese studies and director of the Translation Center, has been selected to receive the 2020 SAMLA Studies Book Award – Edited Collection.

“Avenues of Translation,” co-edited with Evelyn Scaramella, of Manhattan College, explores how translation perpetuates, diversifies, deepens and expands the literary production of cities in their greater cultural context, and how translation shapes an understanding of and access to a city’s past and present literary and cultural practices.

The South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA) will honor the editors and other winners at an award ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 14. That ceremony is part of this year’s SAMLA 92 virtual conference, which Galasso and Scaramella are invited to attend.
