Radio Program Hosted by Anna Mullany Addresses Indigenous People and Health

Health promotion and policy doctoral student Anna Mullany recently hosted a radio program commemorating Indigenous People’s Day on Oct. 12 on Indigo Radio. Mullany is the host of a weekly show on Brattleboro Community Radio WVEW-LP 107.7 FM.

She was joined on the program with UMass Amherst first-year students Nayara Rodrigues (public health sciences), Breanna Joseph (biology), Boula Estafanous (biochemistry and molecular biology), and Katie Zopf (exploratory track in public health and health sciences) for a discussion on Indigenous health, political-economic-social origins of illness, abolishing Columbus Day and the meaning of solidarity. The students interviewed for the program are all enrolled in “Health Sciences RAP: Introduction to Public Health” taught by Mullany.
