Public Policy Student Featured in Municipal Careers Campaign
School of Public Policy (SPP) graduate student Brianna Sunryd is featured in a series of videos from MassTown Careers, a new campaign launched by the Massachusetts Municipal Association that highlights the benefits of working in local government.
A student in SPP’s master of public policy and administration program, Sunryd also works as the communications director for the Town of Amherst. She is one of ten municipal professionals featured in the campaign.
"Retirements are creating a lot of opportunities in local government right now," Sunryd said in the video. “In my graduate studies, I talk with more and more students who are interested in a public service career path, partly because they see themselves reflected in the workforce,” she continued. “It feels great to make a positive impact in my community.”
Sunryd is president of the UMass Amherst student chapter of the International City/County Management Association, or ICMA, which creates networking and educational opportunities for students interested in careers in public service and local government. The UMass chapter is hosted by the School of Public Policy.
