Public Engagement Project to Present “Public Engagement 101” Workshop
The Public Engagement Project (PEP) will present “Public Engagement 101: Goal Setting, Network Mapping and Message Development,” a workshop and discussion open to anyone interested in improving their public engagement efforts, on Thursday, Feb. 21 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Hadley Room of the Campus Center. Lunch will be served.
The two-hour, highly interactive workshop hosted by Amy Schalet, associate professor of sociology and former director of PEP, and current PEP co-director Ezra Markowitz, assistant professor of environmental conservation, will lead participants through a series of concrete activities that will improve and support their ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences, including members of the public, journalists and policymakers.
The event includes hands-on activities designed to be useful for both seasoned communicators and those who are just starting out, and participants are encouraged to bring a particular research product, such as a paper, book or study, to share.
The event is co-sponsored by the colleges of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities and Fine Arts, Education, and Engineering, Center for Research on Families, Institute for Social Science Research, the Office of Professional Development, the Office of the Provost and University Relations.
