Participants Sought for Study on Walking and Fatigue

Kinesiology researchers in the musculoskeletal and orthopedic biomechanics lab group at UMass Amherst continue to seek volunteers aged 30-40 and 70-80 for the S.A.G.E. (Study of Aging, Gait and Energetics) Study.

Aging and Gait Study

The S.A.G.E Study is a research project being conducted by the UMass Amherst Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic Biomechanics lab group. The study is funded by the National Institute of Health and is centered around the purpose of investigating how muscle fatigue may alter the way you walk and the amount of energy your body utilizes for walking.

During three visits, the study group will assess participants mobility and muscle strength, assess their cardiorespiratory fitness, analyze their walking patterns and conduct MRI imagery on their legs.

Participants will receive information about their performance as well as $150 in compensation. Those interested in participating in the study should reach out to researchers at or fill out this pre-screening survey that will quickly determine participation eligibility.
