Parker Named W.E.B. Du Bois Research Institute Fellow

Traci Parker, assistant professor of Afro-American studies, was recently named to the 2019-20 class of W.E.B. Du Bois Research Institute Fellows.  

Seventeen fellowships were awarded by the research institute at the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research at Harvard University.

During the yearlong fellowship term, Parker will work on her second book, “Beyond Loving: Sex, Love, and Marriage in the Black Freedom Movement.” “Beyond Loving” explores African American love, sex and marriage in the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements.

Her first book, “Department Stores and the Black Freedom Movement: Workers, Consumers, and Civil Rights from the 1930s to the 1980s” was released in April 2019.
