Page Elected MTA Vice President
Max Page, professor of architecture and former president of the Massachusetts Society of Professors, has been elected to a two-year term as vice president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
He received 901 votes of the 1,683 votes cast for the three candidates at the association’s 173rd Annual Meeting of Delegates May 5 in Boston.
In addressing the delegates, Page said, “I was motivated by the belief that the direction of the MTA in the last four years has helped to transform our union, involve the members and enable us to win on key issues.”
Page later said that he is particularly looking forward to “working with our allies to win the Fair Share Amendment,” which was widely supported by the delegates as recommended by the MTA board of directors.
Merrie Najimy, a Concord kindergarten teacher and former president of the Concord Teachers Association, was elected MTA president, replacing outgoing president Barbara Madeloni.
Najimy and Page begin their terms July 15.
