Faculty and librarians are invited to an online Internal Funding Opportunities Information Session in October to learn more about the purpose and goals of the Interdisciplinary Research Grants (IRG) and Large-Scale Integrative Research Awards (LIRA), two grant programs administered by the provost and the vice chancellor for research and engagement.

The hourlong Zoom session, which will also include information on the application process, is scheduled for Oct. 4 at 11 a.m.

Interdisciplinary Research Grants (IRG) offer up to $50,000 for teams of faculty members and librarians from at least two different schools/colleges within the university. The projects proposed by each team are expected to represent a new direction or aspect of interdisciplinary collaboration, align with one of the themes of interdisciplinary excellence and lead to significant and tangible outcomes that support continued momentum.

Large-scale Integrative Research Awards (LIRA) are seed grants of up to $60,000 to support integrated team efforts to develop large-scale initiatives. The goals of this program are to empower creativity, promote equitable collaborations – especially those that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion – and to attract substantial external funding. One or more specific extramural funding target must be identified and preference will be given to projects that address large-scale societal problems with the potential for significant impact.
