OFD Hosts On-Campus Writing Retreat for Faculty and Librarians on May 29

The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) will host “Sustaining Writing Practices With and Through Community,”  a daylong, all-faculty and librarians writing retreat, on Thursday, May 29 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Life Sciences Laboratory rooms S320, S330, S340 and S350.

In the morning workshops, participants will write as a large group in the main room or in one of the nooks. A smaller room will also be open for those who would like to use the Pomodoro method of writing — writing in 20-minute increments with small pauses to check in with your body and take a break for one to two minutes. In the afternoon, OFD will host two optional workshops that will run back-to-back.

“In these uncertain times, having the opportunity to convene as a community is so important,” says Rebecca Dingo, OFD senior fellow and associate director. “OFD’s annual writing retreat has become a staple in our programming. It gives faculty and librarians the opportunity to have uninterrupted, concentrated writing time, helps them connect with their community, and builds a sense of camaraderie.

“My goal for this year’s retreat is to take care of faculty and librarians for the day, so they can concentrate on doing the writing that many love to produce,” Dingo adds.

Breakfast, lunch, coffee and snacks will be served. For more information and to register, fill out the online Spring Writing Retreat form by Thursday, May 22, to ensure ample and inclusive refreshments for all attendees.
