Obituary: Leo Blizniak, Retired Technical Specialist

Leo C. Blizniak, 86, of Greenfield, a retired technical specialist in the Physical Plant, died Jan. 24.

Born in Hadley on Feb. 7, 1931, he attended public schools in Hadley and joined UMass Amherst is 1958 as a watchman. During his 25 years with the university he also worked as a mechanical handyman and maintenance foreman, as well as several years under the University of Massachusetts Building Authority. He retired as a technical specialist in 1984.

He was a Christmas tree grower for 50 years.

He is survived by his daughters Patti Gallant and her husband Joseph of Hadley and Linda Diemand and her husband Peter of Wendell.

A celebration of his life will be held in the spring.
