Joan M. (Kennedy) Urban, 66, of Greenfield, a retired clerical worker in accounting and the controller’s office, died March 22.

Born June 5, 1951 in Brighton and raised in Braintree, she was a graduate of Braintree High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College.

She joined the accounting department as a junior clerk in 1979, becoming a senior clerk a year later. From 1985-92, she continued in accounting, part-time. She moved to the controller’s office full-time in 1992, retiring as a clerk IV in 2014.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years John P. Urban; daughter Kimberly Urban of Braintree and Greenfield; brother Joe Kennedy and his wife Ann of Lakeville; and sister Terry Coveney of Braintree.

Visiting hours at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree will be Monday, March 26 from 5-7 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 27 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., South Braintree Square at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private at a later date.
