Obituary: James Knightly, Retired Physical Plant Employee
James R. Knightly, 81, of Greenfield, a retired Physical Plant employee in customer service and work management, died July 8.
He was born in Northampton April 29, 1937 and was a graduate of Amherst High School.
An Air Force veteran, he joined UMass Amherst in the technical staff section in 1960, moving to the work control group in 1969. He retired in 1999.
He leaves his wife of 44 years the former Carol Hale; his daughters Tina Knightly, Dawn Korenewsky and her husband Fred Jr., Angela Kelly and Susan Emond and her husband Eric; his sister Mary Jane Drake (Robert) of Amherst; his brother, Thomas Knightly (Dorothy) of Amherst; and his sister-in-law Joan Knightly of Amherst.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 17 at 10 a.m. at Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield. Burial will follow in Green River Cemetery.
Callings will be Monday, July 16 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
