Obituary: Holly Christian, Former English Department Administrative Assistant

Holly Christian, 52, of Greenfield, a former administrative assistant in the English department, died April 10.

Born Oct. 14, 1965 in Pittsfield, she was raised later in Savoy, Greenfield and Buckland. She attended Mohawk Trail Regional High School and graduated from Northfield Mt. Hermon School.

She received a bachelor’s degree in English literature and psychology from Columbia University and a master’s in 19th-century English literature from the University of Connecticut.

Later in her life she briefly attended Western New England University School of Law.

Before joining UMass Amherst in 1996, she did editorial work and worked with brain injured adults. She resigned from the English department in 2002.

She is survived by her mother Marilyn Christian; her sister Bonnie Christian of Greenfield; and her brother Daniel of Washington.

A celebration of life memorial service will be announced later.
