Obituary: Dorothy Holmes, Worked in University Store
Dorothy M. (LaShier) Holmes, 80, of Belchertown, a former clerk at the UMass Amherst University Store, died July 2.
Born Oct. 10, 1937, she grew up in Turners Falls and joined UMass Amherst in dietary services in 1978. She worked as a clerk in the university store from 1980-88.
She also worked as a cook for Smith College for many years.
She leaves her husband of 61 years, Lawrence G. Holmes; four children, K. Martin Holmes and wife Katherine of South Hadley, Kelly O’Dell and husband James of Belchertown, Kevin Holmes and wife Elizabeth of Ashfield and Kathleen A. Mereschuk and husband David of Agawam; and her sister, Donna Marie Dejnak and her husband Steven of Turners Falls.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 11 from 4-6 p.m. at the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., Route 202, with a celebration of life service at the conclusion of the calling hours.
