Nominations Open for Undergraduate Rising Researcher Award

The nomination period is now open for the fall 2025 Rising Researcher awards, a program recognizing the work of undergraduate students who excel in research, scholarship and creative activity.
The Rising Researcher program is open to undergraduates in any field at UMass Amherst. Eligible students are those who have demonstrated leadership and impact in their chosen area of study, including research results/scholarly publication; innovation/entrepreneurial activities that may lead to the development of technology or formation of a business; or significant contribution to a creative work such as a book, collection of poetry, musical composition, or theater/dance production.
Students selected for this honor will receive a custom-engraved award and recognition across multiple media channels, including the UMass website. There will be an event to celebrate the student honorees and their faculty mentors during the spring semester. Applications must include both a faculty/administrator nomination and a nomination filled out by the student themselves.
For more information about the nomination process or to submit a nomination, visit this page. The deadline for submissions is noon on Friday, Oct. 3.
The Rising Researcher Award is co-supported by University Relations, Research & Engagement, and the Commonwealth Honors College.
