Nine Faculty Members, Instructors Awarded Sustainability Curriculum Fellowships
The Chancellor’s Office has awarded nine faculty members and instructors a Sustainability Curriculum Fellowship (SCF).
The year-long interdisciplinary fellowship provides $1,000 each to faculty and instructors developing or augmenting courses with sustainability-related topics. Established in 2013, the SCF program has supported 52 faculty fellows from every college, across more than 26 different departments at the university.
Fellows attend monthly meetings during which they receive guidance on incorporating sustainability topics into their courses, using library resources, course design or redesign, and reports about campus sustainability policies, projects, and other initiatives.
This year’s Sustainability Curriculum Fellows are:
- Raphael E. Arku, Environmental health sciences
- Dwayne Breger, Environmental conservation/School of Earth and Sustainability, Clean Energy Extension
- Christine Hatch, Geosciences/School of Earth and Sustainability
- Margaret Krone, Education
- Sandy Litchfield, Architecture
- Jamie T. Mullins, Resource economics
- Charlie Schweik, Environmental conservation/School of Earth and Sustainability, School of Public Policy
- Jared Starr, Environmental conservation/School of Earth and Sustainability
- Emily Tareila, Art
SCF is supported by the Chancellor’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, in cooperation with the School of Earth and Sustainability, the Campus Sustainability Manager from Facilities and Campus Service, the Institute for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development, and UMass Amherst Libraries.
